The Walks of a Lonely Dreamer

Jean-Jacques Rousseau is an outstanding thinker and writer of the Enlightenment era. A true son of his age, Rousseau devoted his life to many disciplines, from philosophy to music and botany. However, first and foremost, Rousseau was a literator, the author of the scandalously famous "Confessions," the novel "Julie, or The New Eloise," the treatise "The Walks of a Lonely Dreamer," and "Letters to d'Alembert." His books enjoyed incredible popularity and played an important role in preparing for the Great French Revolution. This edition includes three works by Jean-Jacques Rousseau: "The Walks of a Lonely Dreamer"—the author's last work, in some way summarizing his entire life and creativity; "Discourse on the Sciences and Arts"—Rousseau's first mature work, which already lays the foundation for all his future ideas and thoughts; as well as the famous "Letter to d'Alembert on Spectacles," in which Rousseau criticizes the art of his time, which is distant from the life and interests of the ordinary viewer.
