Marcus Aurelius. Meditations

Marcus Aurelius is a representative of late Stoicism and a follower of Epictetus. In his philosophical writings, he paid the most attention to ethics, dedicating the other sections for preparatory purposes. While earlier Stoics considered the soul to be the governing principle, Marcus Aurelius referred to reason as the leading principle. In his collection Meditations, he presents arguments in favor of bringing reason into harmony with the nature of the whole and achieving tranquility through this. Because happiness lies in accordance with the universal reason.
