Five Children and It. The Phoenix and the Carpet. The Story with the Amulet
Edith Nesbit 1858 – 1924 – was an English writer and the progenitor of the fantasy genre. Clive Staples Lewis, inspired by the works of E. Nesbit, wrote his famous series The Chronicles of Narnia. The book includes three novellas:...
Five Children and It, The Phoenix and the Carpet, and The Story with the Amulet. They tell of the adventures of brothers and sisters. The children find a wonderful creature named the Psammead. He has lived in the sand for thousands of years and can grant one wish a day. Will the fulfillment of wishes bring happiness to the children? In the second novella, a real Phoenix and a carpet appear, which can transport the boys and girls anywhere they wish! However, the tasks given to the carpet must be phrased correctly; otherwise, you might end up in a dungeon or on a rooftop. And how do you get out of there? And in the third novella, the children must find the other half of the amulet, as only a complete amulet will fulfill the most cherished wish of the brothers and sisters. One wish for all! For this, the children must embark on a journey to a distant past and unravel the mysteries of Egyptian pharaohs and Babylonian queens. Retelling by Irina Tokmakova. For younger school age.
