Girl in the Tower

After saving her native Forest Land from the Bear army, young Vasilisa realizes: terrified people see her as a witch, and therefore, she cannot stay at home. Wanting to avoid an unwanted marriage, or worse fate of becoming a nun, she disguises herself as a young man and, accompanied by her loyal Nightingale, sets off on a journey through the world.

But her plans change when they stumble upon a village ravaged by bandits. A spontaneous desire to track down the villains and the accompanying luck lead Vasilisa to meet the Grand Duke of Moscow Dmitry Ivanovich, who is impressed by the bravery of the "young man".

Equally shocked is the duke's close friend, monk Alexander Peresvet, who in the world is Vasilisa's brother. Wishing to avoid a scandal and irreparable consequences for the whole family, Sasha keeps his sister's secret and introduces her as his brother, Vasily Petrovich.

But suddenly, Moscow finds itself at the center not only of the political intrigues of the Golden Horde but also of a confrontation with much older and more powerful forces…
