The writing of this book by British author and artist James Norbury was inspired by his experience volunteering for a helpline. He took notes and recorded his thoughts, and then, inspired by Buddhist philosophy, spirituality, and the idea of mindfulness, he created this book to share ideas that helped him get through difficult times.

Some time ago, when I was going through a difficult period in my life, I came across a book about Buddhism in a second-hand bookstore. The book excited me, and I delved into the topics of spirituality and meditation. The more I learned, the clearer I understood that I did not have to be a slave to my bad thoughts.
Having discovered something that allowed me to feel happier, I realized that I wanted to help other people. At that time, I came up with the idea of drawing illustrations to convey these important, transformative ideas in a simple and understandable way. At first, I could not have imagined that my idea would resonate so much. But I was contacted by people of all ages, from different countries, belonging to different cultures and religions, and they told me how my drawings helped them cope with tough moments in life. I poured my heart into each illustration — perhaps this is why they resonate in people's hearts.
