Mikhail Alexandrovich Bakunin 1814-1876 – Russian philosopher, publicist, one of the ideologists of anarchism and populism. The confession, addressed to Russian Emperor Nicholas I, was written by Bakunin in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The manuscript with the emperor's handwritten... notes was found in the archive of the Third Section and was first published only in 1921. In this work, Bakunin described his life and participation in the revolutionary movement, as well as presented his own perspective on it, the Slavic question, and the arrangement of Russia. The collection also includes the unfinished manuscript by Bakunin God and the State, in which he criticizes Christianity and the flourishing technocratic movement of that time from a materialistic, anarchist, and individualistic point of view.
