The Adventures of Three Russians and Three Englishmen in South Africa

Readers are offered one of the lesser-known novels by Jules Verne. In writing it, the author repeatedly referred to the works of the famous Scottish missionary David Livingstone, known for his exploratory activities. A geodetic expedition consisting of three Russian and three English scientists sets out to South Africa for scientific research. Along the way, a conflict arises between them, and the sudden news of the outbreak of hostilities between Russia and England further exacerbates the situation, leading to the final split of the expedition into two parts: Russian and English. The heroes face numerous difficulties: traveling through jungles, hunting wild beasts, crossing deserts, a Bushmen rebellion, and being attacked by bandits… During the siege of the fortress, where the Russians have taken refuge, the English scientists come to their aid, forgetting their enmity, and the team reunites in the face of common danger. But the incredible adventures of the heroes do not end there… The book is illustrated by Oleg Pakhomov.
