The creativity of F.M. Dostoevsky is multifaceted; for him, it was important to depict life in all its contradictions: "...to amuse and profoundly shock the reader's soul at the same time, to make him smile through tears..." (V.G. Belinsky). This... edition includes two early works by the author. In the debut novel "Poor People," consisting of letters between the main characters, the author addresses the world of "little people," weighed down by "the unjust oppression of circumstances," with deep sympathy, showing their inner world, full of hurt pride and despair. In the story "Another Man's Wife and Husband under the Bed," we encounter a somewhat unfamiliar Dostoevsky. Written as a typical vaudeville, this "extraordinary incident" evolves into a tragicomedy: there is a jealous deceived husband, a ridiculous appeal to the wife's lover, and a comical situation under the bed in someone else's apartment...
