At the request of the Minister of Finance Witte, he is sent to Kiev. Witte's son-in-law, Mikhail Mering, conducts risky schemes - he is involved in housing construction and, trying to deceive creditors, is cheating on collateral. Lyokov must bring him to justice. But in Kiev, the detective faces nothing but failures. The situation is complicated by the fact that people start to die, and Lyokov himself is walking on the edge - there is a hunt for him…
