The book "The Decline of Europe" is the main and most famous work of Oswald Spengler - a German thinker who predicted the unification of Europe back in 1923, categorically refusing to recognize the West as the center of world history, and moreover, denying the very concept of a unified human history. Spengler proposed a concept of types of human culture that, like living organisms, undergo certain phases of development and ultimately die, transforming into a barren mechanical civilization. The researcher identified eight main cultures - Egyptian, Indian, Babylonian, Chinese, "Apollonian" (Greco-Roman), "Magical" (Byzantine-Arab), "Faustian" (Western European), and Maya culture - and predicted the emergence of Russian-Siberian culture. According to the author, the transition of Western culture into civilization began in 1800, which should culminate, according to O. Spengler, by 2000.
