Evgeny Lukin undoubtedly ranks among the top five contemporary domestic science fiction writers. Perhaps even in the top three. I won’t name names. Besides, science fiction is a conditional genre. Lukin is broader than science fiction, both as a genre... and as a literary direction. He writes about our life, turning it inside out. If you start counting all the awards and honors Lukin has received since the beginning of his writing career, you’d lose count somewhere around the fifth or sixth dozen. He has over a hundred of them. “Aelita,” “Strannik,” “Bronze Snail,” “ABS Prize,” Interpresscon, Roscon, named after Ivan Efremov, Belyayev Prize, “Golden Ostap,” and many other diverse ones. He was even once declared a laureate of the “Golden Calf” prize by the “Literary Newspaper” for his ironic poems. In 2015, Lukin was honored with the title of Grandmaster of European Science Fiction. This edition includes a number of the writer’s works from the large cycle about the town of Bakluzhino and its surroundings. Read it; you won’t be bored!
