Iran in 1979. A narrow circle of oil magnates and crowds of desperate, impoverished people. It takes just a spark to ignite riots and drown in blood those who bathed in luxury just yesterday... As a result of the coup,... the pro-Western regime of Shah Pahlavi is overthrown, and a 'war of all against all' begins, involving the intervention of secret services of great powers interested in Iranian oil. The Noble House — a huge holding company connected to oil extraction — remains vigilant. To evacuate people and assets from the chaos of revolution, a helicopter company unofficially owned by the holding is preparing for an incredibly audacious operation. Delay is not an option — taking off from a 'powder keg' is too dangerous, especially since all helicopters must depart from their bases simultaneously... The novel 'Hurricane' (1986) concludes Clavell's 'Asian Saga'. There are those who criticize the author for some confusion and mixing of genres in this book, but it is hard to deny him his foresight: describing the tumultuous events in Iran of the late seventies, he seems to have seen several decades ahead.
