control not only the economy and industry but also human emotions. The writer raises global philosophical questions. What are the boundaries of human knowledge? Is it permissible for a person to take on the role of God-Creator? Can scientific inquiry be put to the service of commerce? What, after all, remains immutable in the world and in the life of an individual? Inspired by the works of Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges, Kurt Vonnegut, George Orwell, and Douglas Adams, Andri Snær Magnason created an original surrealistic picture of the future that is not only grim and oppressive but also full of whimsical grotesque. The book has been translated into sixteen languages and has received a number of international literary awards, including a special prize from the American Philip K. Dick Award (2012) and the French "Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire" (2016). In Russian, Andri Snær Magnason's books "The History of the Blue Planet" (2020) and "The Time Box" (2021) were published by the "Gyródec" publishing house.
