Raffaello Giovagnoli (1838–1915) - a renowned Italian writer and revolutionary, associate of Giuseppe Garibaldi, admirer and diligent student of Walter Scott and Alexandre Dumas, an outstanding connoisseur of Ancient Roman history. His most popular novel "Spartacus" tells the story of the legendary slave uprising led by a fearless fighter who devoted all his strength and passion to the struggle for freedom. It is a novel about beautiful and dramatic love, about friendship and betrayal, about the joy of fighting and the bitterness of defeat.
