Boris Vasilyevich Bedny — a Soviet writer, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, held the position of a lecturer at the Literary Institute, where he conducted seminars at the Higher Literary Courses (among his students are many renowned writers,... including Chinghiz Aitmatov). Boris Bedny gained fame from the novella "Girls," which has been translated into fifteen foreign languages and served as the basis for the film of the same name. The film "Girls," directed by Yuri Chuluykin with Nadezhda Rumyantseva in the lead role, is well known in Russia. This cheerful comedy about love in a remote village of lumberjacks in the Urals not only captured the hearts of viewers across the Soviet Union but also won several prestigious awards at international film festivals. However, the novella "Girls" differs significantly from the famous film: the characters' personalities are explored more deeply, the harsh life in the distant village is portrayed much more realistically, and there are even substantial differences in the plot. In addition to the novella "Girls," Boris Bedny wrote many stories (some of which have been adapted for film), as well as the novella "Big Stream" (1952). This edition includes the complete works of the remarkable classic of Russian prose.
