Lone and defenseless Scarlett Ravenwood is forced to escape from a man who is determined to compel her into marriage. In search of salvation, she runs into a church where her former lover Vincenzo, a wealthy and powerful handsome man, is in the midst of his wedding ceremony. The wedding is disrupted. Learning that Scarlett is expecting a child from him, Vincenzo offers her his hand and heart. But Scarlett is not ready for such a turn of events, and Vincenzo is filled with dark doubts about his fatherhood.
