"The Golden Age of Russian Poetry" began with the lines of young Pushkin (1815) and ended with the last poems of Nekrasov (1878). This era gifted us dozens of wonderful masters of poetic language: from the "poets of the Pushkin... era" - Zhukovsky, Boratynsky, Batyschkow, and Yazykov, Pushkin's schoolmates Delvig and Kyukhelbecker, the Decembrists Ryleev and Odoevsky - to Fet, Tyutchev, Lermontov, Koltsov, and A. K. Tolstoy.
Our anthology features the best works of twenty-one poets, revealing all facets of the Golden Age - landscape lyricism and civic odes, philosophical stanzas and tender love poems. Many of these poems have become popular songs and romances.
