The events described in the novel take place in 1883 in the snow-covered depths of Iceland, in the southwest of the country. The plot unexpectedly intertwines the fates of three main characters: Fridrik, who once studied abroad in Denmark, Abba... – a girl with Down syndrome, found on a foreign ship that sank off the coast of Iceland, and the local parish priest Baldur Skuggason – a great lover of fox hunting.Despite the lightness of the narration and even a certain fairy-tale quality, the book touches on the problems of humanity in today's society. It is also intriguing that until the last page it is unclear who is the true hero and who is the villain.
