In her apartment, actress Marianna Polyanskaya is brutally murdered. The investigation is assigned to Captain Vladislav Uryadov and Senior Lieutenant Alexander Deev. The operatives identify the main suspects – the murder victim's niece, to whom she bequeathed the apartment shortly... before her death, and the actress's ex-husband. Both are on the run, which means they are indeed involved in the retaliation against their relative. The detectives organize a search and soon apprehend the fugitives. However, during the interrogation, an unexpected revelation emerges: it turns out that the actress's niece was in her aunt's apartment on that fateful day and saw everything with her own eyes…
