Newton-Dunbar, a small town hidden in a valley among the mountains in northeastern Scotland, is known mostly for the lighthouse that a local landowner built next to his house two hundred years ago, although it is not very close to the sea. Today, it is home to the only bookstore for many miles around — a center of attraction for reading enthusiasts, a cozy atmosphere, warm conversations, and good coffee.

The manager of the bookstore, who lives on the top floor of the lighthouse, Rachel, arrived here five years ago, escaping from her sadistic husband and deciding to start a new life — and found a beloved job and a place she now calls home.

After the sudden death of the lighthouse owner, she will have to fight against dishonest traders and unfavorable circumstances to try to save the bookstore at the lighthouse, which has taken an important place in the lives of many of her loved ones…
