Агиология

The main subject of agiology is spiritual perfection, holiness. This theological discipline studies the lives of saints with the aim of establishing types of holiness and their spiritual characteristics in national, geographical, and historical aspects.

The course of lectures has been prepared at the Faculty of Additional Education of PSTGU, where agiology has been taught since 2005 as part of the professional retraining program "Theology" and as a separate short-term advanced training course.

This publication is intended for students of spiritual schools; teachers and participants of basic theological education programs implemented within the framework of theology departments, spiritual and educational centers, theological courses; teachers of Orthodox gymnasiums and Sunday schools, as well as for all those interested in agiology. The book can serve as an additional source of information when studying the history of the Church and the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, and can be used in sermons and missionary work.
