In an apartment owned by Ekaterina Ryzhova, the body of the brutally murdered Mikhail Vershinin is found. Ekaterina claims she has never seen him and that she rented the apartment to a completely different man. Investigator Sedov has every reason to doubt her words, as at one point Katya accidentally drops a phrase about how Vershinin was a rare scoundrel. However, it soon becomes clear that many had reasons to kill Vershinin... But, in addition to searching for the murderer, Sedov has to deal with personal matters - his wife has run away with another man, and not just anywhere, but to Paris…
