Roly-poly toy

A roly-poly is a traditional toy for babies who have learned to sit. The roly-poly is great because it is a self-learning toy: a child does not need adult help to play with it. When the child touches the roly-poly, it sways slightly; if they touch it stronger, the toy sways more; if they push really hard, the roly-poly seems to fall, but it stands up again. Thus, the child discovers how to play with the roly-poly. The purpose of the roly-poly: The roly-poly toy develops the child's fine motor skills, enriches their vocabulary with words denoting parts of the face and body, and provides an understanding of the predictability of actions.
