Vladimir Durov

The book "Vladimir Durov" opens a series of children's biographical encyclopedias "What People!" about remarkable, extraordinary Russian individuals who left a vivid mark in the domestic history. The character of Vladimir Leonidovich Durov was chosen for the first book in... the series not by chance. In our time, Durov is mostly remembered only as a talented trainer, but this is just a small part of his multifaceted personality. 
A great artist, wit, self-taught genius, musician and sculptor, educator and scientist, hypnotist, an authoritative specialist in the field of zoopsychology, internally free and sometimes recklessly brave man - he modestly referred to himself as a jester-satirist. Many of Durov's human qualities can serve as an example for a young reader. 
The book collects the brightest, often paradoxical and tragicomic facts from Durov's life, describing the most famous acts with trained animals: the rat steamboat; the flights of the pig Khryushka on a hot air balloon and the rat Snegurochka on a plane; the elephant barber; "Friendly Lunch" with sitting animals at the same table, which in real life would have pounced on each other; Durov's railway, which involved more than 50 animals (listed in the poster as "performing faces"), and many others. 
The descriptive part of the book is literally "devoured," so engagingly and vividly is the text written. The beautiful artistic execution of the publication includes, along with original drawings by the artist Alexander Egorov, numerous documentary illustrations. Vivid historical excursions - textual, visual, and documentary - create a real backdrop for the described events, convey characteristic details of life in that era and will be easily mastered by the child with unwavering interest.
