Lottie dreams of becoming the heroine of one of those many adventure books she devours in the evenings. Like, for example, in "The Secret of the Severed Leg" or "The Mystery of the Dead Moth." But her life is boring… School, an annoying little brother, and a house she's ashamed to invite friends to. But everything changes when Lottie meets a new girl named Sofia at school camp. This girl lives in a world of mysteries and dangers and desperately needs Lottie's help. Sofia wants to find her mother, who is hidden by Mr. Pinhead. When the girls set out to find Sofia's mom, Lottie finally learns what it means to be a true heroine. It turns out that when real bandits are chasing you, you have to rely only on your own resourcefulness and courage!
