The famous French writer Jules Verne (1828-1905) wrote his renowned work "The History of Great Voyages", which consists of three books: "The Discovery of the Earth", "Seafarers of the XVIII Century", and "Travelers of the XIX Century", over a period of sixteen years. It vividly and engagingly describes the most significant voyages and discoveries that changed people's understanding of the world's geography, erased white spots on maps, promised riches, and became causes of wars. The author covered the period from ancient times to the 1840s. The book "Seafarers of the XVIII Century" is dedicated to describing the most striking and significant sea voyages and geographical discoveries of the eighteenth century - Bougainville, the three expeditions of the renowned Captain Cook, La Perouse, Bering, Chirikov, Humboldt, and others.
