The Pathfinder, or On the Shores of Ontario

"The Pathfinder" is a novel in which the adventures of the fearless hunter Natty Bumppo continue. As before, the author leads the reader along the military paths of the Indians, telling the story of Leatherstocking (also known as the Pathfinder), this time serving as a scout and guide in the British army. Natty, his loyal friend Great Snake, and the young man Jasper are tasked with escorting Captain Charles Cap and his young niece Mabel Dunham to a fortress on the shores of Ontario, where the girl's father serves. The heroes face a dangerous voyage on a cutter, skirmishes with treacherous Hurons, and a decisive battle, the stakes of which are the lives of their friends. By the will of fate, the Pathfinder must save a friend whose honor has been tarnished by a serious suspicion of treason. And all this happens at a moment when love first takes root in the heart of the brave warrior.
