Snow White

Snow White — the heroine of the fairy tale by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, whose story originates in German folklore. The first publication of «Snow White» was in the collection «Children's and Household Tales» by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, and it was supplemented in the 1854 reissue. Some researchers tend to guess that the characters from «Snow White» are based on real historical figures, but it is more likely that the fairy tale has come down to us from ancient times, taking root in various forms in the traditions of peoples around the world.

The story of the beautiful daughter of a king, sent to her doom by a jealous stepmother, saved by dwarfs and finding her happiness despite all adversities, continues to resonate even today. «Snow White» is retold by our contemporaries in films and animated movies, on the pages of printed books...

In this edition, the Petersburg artist Anton Lomaev presents his version of «Snow White».
