Silver Skates

In the Dutch town of Broek, all anyone talks about is the upcoming speed skating competition. They say the winner will receive a valuable prize. Hans Brinker and his younger sister Gretel, like all Dutch children, are excellent on the ice. However, for the competition, skates are needed. Ever since their father fell seriously ill and the family savings mysteriously disappeared, the Brinker family has been barely making ends meet. Of course, strong and agile Hans could compete for the championship title, but he has more important concerns: he needs to find a way to feed his family.
