Dinka

The action of the story "Dinka" takes place in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. The Arsenyev family spends the summer at their dacha near Samara. Eight-year-old Dinka is bored sitting in one place with her sisters and aunt all day long. Free-spirited and headstrong, she often sneaks away to the banks of the Volga, where due to her "difficult" nature, she constantly gets caught up in a whirlwind of events—both pleasant and not so much. During one of these escapades, the girl meets the orphan Lyonka, who works for a cruel master. Thus, Dinka gains a friend for life...

In many ways, Valentina Oseeva's autobiographical book tells of true friendship and loyalty, honor and honesty, devotion to loved ones and a common cause. But it is also a tale of how children grow up, how they learn to see what is real in people, to appreciate and understand the world around them.

The expressive illustrations by Yulia Kazarnitskaya, accompanying the story, make the images of the characters vivid and memorable.
