This is how the tale of Vitaly Bianki begins, where each month of the year is revealed through the lives of birds and other forest inhabitants. Each month brings new discoveries for Zinka: in January, she searches for food in the bitter cold, in spring she rejoices at the first sun and listens to the songs of the birds returning from the south, in summer she sees how the animals' cubs grow, and in autumn she observes the falling leaves and the preparation of animals for winter.
