This manual is part of the set "Six Months Before School: Urgently Learning to Read". It will help educators of mainstream preschool groups organize and conduct classes on teaching reading and writing to children in preparatory groups. The working system proposed by the author is based on the syllabic method of teaching reading and the positional principle of reading developed by D.B. Elkonin. The process of teaching reading is carried out in the following sequence: studying vowel letters in pairs; studying paired consonant sounds based on hardness and softness within one lesson; mastering reading through the syllabic method; using colored symbols to denote sounds; working on constructing word and sentence schemes; familiarizing children with a number of grammatical and orthographic rules; expanding and clarifying children's understanding of the surrounding reality, enriching their vocabulary, and developing their speech. The manual is addressed to educators of mainstream preschool groups, elementary school teachers, tutors, and parents.
