Whales. Amandine Delone

Whales — the largest mammals and one of the most mysterious creatures on the planet. This book invites the reader on an exciting journey through the World Ocean from the icy waters of the Arctic to tropical seas. You will learn what types of whales exist, why they sing, how they sleep, hunt, and raise their young, and what role they play in the planet's ecosystem. 

Scientific facts, ancient myths, and modern research create a holistic portrait of sensitive giants — intelligent, social, and vulnerable beings, whose fate largely depends on humans.

Amandine Delone has always been drawn to wild nature, especially oceans. In 2022, together with staff from the Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust, she embarked on a research vessel Silurian to Scotland to study populations of marine mammals and birds. This expedition inspired her to write «Whales». While working on the book, Delone met Jean-Luc Jung, a biologist, professor at the National Museum of Natural History, and director of the Dinard Marine Station, who became the scientific consultant for the book.
