The Wise Piskar. Tales

Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin (1826 — 1889) — a famous Russian writer, satirist, journalist, magazine editor, and government official. In his youth, he studied at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, where he first discovered his passion for writing poetry. After some time, the future writer abandoned poetry and began working in prose.

Saltykov-Shchedrin started writing tales in the later years of his life. By dressing his sharp parody of officials, fashionable poets, and other representatives of his time in the genre of fairy tales, he thereby increased the comic effect of his works.
