Russian Folk Tales

This edition collects Russian folk tales. They narrate the valorous feats of glorious warriors and sing the unparalleled beauty of mysterious princesses, tell of treacherous tasks from malevolent kings, and glorify the wondrous creations of rare craftsmen. The folk wisdom in these tales teaches readers compassion, courage, love for one’s neighbor, and resourcefulness. In this collection, the texts are presented in a literary processing by outstanding domestic folklorists and writers: Mikhail Alexandrovich Bulatov (1913—1963), Irina Valerianovna Karnaukhov (1901—1959), Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1882—1945), Natalia Pavlovna Kolpakova (1902—1994), Alexander Nikolaevich Afanasyev (1826—1871), and Maxim Gorky (1868—1936).

The tales are adorned with color illustrations by the Soviet artist Nikolai Kochegin.
