The reader for 5th grade will help students prepare for literature lessons, broaden their horizons, and foster an interest in reading. The works are selected according to the school curriculum and recommended lists for middle school students aged 10-11-12 years.
The reader consists of three large sections: Russian literature of the 19th century, Russian literature of the 20th century, and Foreign literature. Included are recommended works such as “Borodino” by M. Y. Lermontov, the poems “Peasant Children” and “Schoolboy,” and an excerpt from the poem “Frost, Red Nose” by N. A. Nekrasov, fables by I. A. Krylov, the stories “Mumu” and “Bezhin Meadow” by I. S. Turgenev, stories by A. P. Chekhov, as well as many other prose and poetic monuments by V. A. Zhukovsky, F. M. Dostoevsky, D. V. Grigorovich, A. S. Pushkin, M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, F. I. Tyutchev, L. N. Tolstoy, A. A. Fet, I. A. Bunin, S. A. Yesenin, A. I. Kuprin, A. P. Platonov, M. M. Prishvin, K. M. Simonov, etc. The section on foreign literature includes the myths of Ancient Greece, the fairy tales of H. C. Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, Wilhelm Hauff, and Mark Twain.
The book features a legible font in a hardcover format of convenient size. The works are mainly presented without cuts, with excerpts from some larger texts. To adequately prepare for literature lessons, it is sufficient to purchase just one reader.
