Uncle Remus' Tales

Joel Chandler Harris – an American journalist, folklorist, and writer. The image of the charming Uncle Remus was created by J. Harris while working at a newspaper. The humorous notes of "Uncle Remus" about rural life endeared him to readers, and J. Harris began publishing old tales and songs of black slaves in the newspaper. Soon the book "Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings" was released, which instantly flew off the shelves and was reissued multiple times.

In total, J. Harris wrote about two hundred tales told from the perspective of Uncle Remus, about Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and their friends. The kind tales, filled with humor and worldly wisdom, have been translated into many languages.

The book includes all "Uncle Remus' Tales" in the classic translation by M. Gershenzon, which was first published in Russian in 1936.
