The Mind of the Heart. Knowledge, Intellect, and Wisdom in Sufism

The book examines the role of the mind in Sufism. There are widespread opinions about the negative attitude of Sufis towards knowledge and intellect, but such a position is primarily characteristic of a simplified, "popular" Sufism. Relying on numerous Sufi sources and personal experience within the tradition, the author shows the limitations of such a viewpoint. The mind plays an important role in Sufism and spiritual tradition as a whole, and the Sufi "path of knowledge" is a necessary complement to the Sufi "path of love."
