Umka. Tales

The fairy tale tells about a little white bear named Umka, who lives in the north with his mother bear. Umka curiously explores the world around him, learns to hunt, swim, and discovers the lives of people, who seem unusual... and interesting to him. One day, the bear cub meets a Chukchi boy and tries to befriend him.
The story shows the sincerity of childhood friendship, the desire to learn new things, and the warmth of the relationship between mother and child. The fairy tale is filled with the atmosphere of northern nature and gently teaches kindness, curiosity, and mutual understanding.
The book by writer and screenwriter Yuri Yakovlevich Yakovlev (1922-1995) includes his best stories dedicated to the friendship between children and animals.
