The desperate attempts of a girl who is all alone wanders the world barefoot to find and bring home her foster brother leave none of the characters in the book indifferent (she is helped by the river and flowers, doves and crows, a robber and a prince with a princess, a deer and the inhabitants of distant northern lands, and in the end even angels), nor the readers - both very young and adults. This story about the devotion of the human heart and the mercy of the world promises each of us: no matter what winds blow over the earth, no matter what separations and losses stand in our way - in the end, everything will be fine and right, that's how the world is arranged!
