When the artist's firstborn arrived, Nikolai Nikolaevich spent all his free minutes enthusiastically drawing the little girl. Then a second child was born, followed by a third... He drew each one in various candid situations. The drawings turned out light, sincere, and infinitely touching. In 1958, a book titled «Let's Get Acquainted» was published by Detgiz, containing, like a cozy family album, «childlike» drawings by Nikolai Zhukov and poems-inscriptions by the poet Vladimir Thomsen. That book served as the basis for this publication.
