The Blue Bird

Maurice Maeterlinck is a talented Belgian writer and playwright, laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1908, he created the philosophical play-parable "The Blue Bird", which is rightly considered a benchmark of symbolism in dramatic art. The plot is based on the journey of children Tyltyl and Mytyl in search of the Blue Bird. The Blue Bird is a symbol of happiness that a person seeks everywhere, not noticing that it is nearby; one just needs to look around and see the world. This play is a magnificent fairy tale spectacle that, with its deep design, helps children understand the most complex truths, and adults remember that they were children once and try to look at the world through the eyes of a child. The edition is illustrated by the artist Boris Alexandrovich Dekhtyarev, whose drawings create a truly colorful spectacle.
