The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The novella "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," published in 1876 by the famous American writer Mark Twain, is largely autobiographical.
 
The majority of the adventures of the rowdy and resourceful boy from a tiny American town on the Mississippi River... actually took place – with the writer or his schoolmates. The captivating events and funny antics of Tom evoke smiles and sympathy from readers, and for some of them (the youngest, most passionate, and dreamy) – perhaps even burning envy! After all, which boy does not want to sail to a deserted island, find treasure with gold coins, or win the love of the best girl in class! And which girl would not be pleased to become the object of the tender feelings of a mischievous and enterprising boy, who is brave and generous at the same time!
 
The story of Tom Sawyer, which Mark Twain, in his own words, originally wrote for adults, has long become a beloved classic of children's literature.
