Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950) is one of the greatest spiritual Teachers who, at the age of 16, spontaneously attained Enlightenment, or Self-realization, the awareness of his true "Self." He offered humanity the direct Path of Self-knowledge through self-inquiry: "Who am I?" The individual "I" ("me") cannot withstand this question, it flees, and then Peace and the radiance of the True nature of man - the immortal Being-Consciousness-Bliss reigns.
"Day by Day" is an excerpt from a diary kept for almost two years (March 1945 - January 1947) by A. Devaraja Mudaliar, one of Maharshi's closest disciples. His entries contain not only Bhagavan's responses to numerous questions from devotees and visitors, but also paint his human and spiritual portrait. Working with this diary, the spiritual seeker plunges into the depths of the Wisdom emanating from the living presence of Maharshi and into the atmosphere of life in His ashram. The entire life of Bhagavan unfolds before the reader, starting from his childhood years, voiced by him and recounted by those close to him spiritual seekers.
