This book is excerpts from conversations, quotes, and comments of the 68th abbot of Sri Kanchi Math (a Hindu monastic spiritual order founded by Adi Shankara), the revered Mahaperiyava (Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Mahaswamigal), compiled in a monumental work... by his disciple Sri Ra Ganapati and published in Tamil in seven volumes under the name "Deivatin Kural" ("The Voice of God").

Mahaperiyava was revered as one who realized the True Self by many great teachers, including Sri Ramana Maharshi.
