The book traces the emergence of the cult and image of Ganesha through a variety of materials, its origins and mythological history (in particular, the story of his birth and relationships with family, the reasons for his unusual appearance, and... questions related to marriage and fatherhood), examines the main functions and features of his worship, iconographic canons, attributes, and symbolism, pays attention to the peculiarities of his depiction in art, as well as the position that Ganesha occupies in Jainism and Buddhism.
In the appendix, the reader can familiarize themselves with an example of the application of psychoanalysis in Indological studies, with iconographic nuances and the main mantras used for the worship of Ganesha.
