Krylov's fables have been familiar to us since childhood – even before we were assigned to memorize them in school, we often heard the now-famous expressions: "and Vasya listens and eats", "sing, little light, don’t be shy", "and you, friends,... however you sit, you will never be fit for musicians"... This edition presents Krylov's fables, with which children begin to get acquainted with the work of the great Russian fabulist. Magnificent illustrations for the fables were created by Alexey Mikhailovich Laptev, an outstanding graphic artist whose works have become the benchmark of the highest mastery of book illustration. A. Laptev is recognized as the best illustrator of N.V. Gogol's “Dead Souls”. Moreover, he is also the author of the graphic image of Neznayka and his friends – beloved characters from the famous tale by N. Nosov. The publication marks the 120th anniversary of the famous artist.
