Fables

The fables of Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (1769–1844) are small masterpieces of Russian literature. Accurate and witty phrases from them have long since become winged expressions. The fables are characterized by precise moral evaluations of human actions, rich language, subtle irony, and most importantly – genuine national character. The illustrations for the book were created by the famous artist Anatoly Mikhailovich Eliseev, whose satirical images fully correspond to the spirit of Krylov's fables. This collection includes works included in the school curriculum and in the lists for summer reading.
