Konstantin Dmitrievich Ushinsky was born in 1823 in Tula into a noble family. His father, a participant in the Patriotic War of 1812, worked as an official. The boy's mother died when Konstantin was 11 years old, but she managed... to give her son a solid educational foundation - as a result, at the age of 12, he was enrolled directly into the 3rd grade of gymnasium; then Konstantin entered Moscow University. There he studied law and philosophy, was passionate about theater and literature, and was already interested in the issues of teaching literacy to the common people.
After graduating from university, Konstantin Dmitrievich successfully engaged in teaching activities, wrote brilliant articles on pedagogy, and worked in various educational institutions, including the Smolny Institute for Noble Maidens, where he organized a pedagogical class to train future educators.
In 1861, K.D. Ushinsky wrote "Native Word" - a remarkable textbook for younger students, which includes informative texts about work, school, the basics of moral behavior, and in 1868 published a serious scientific work "Man as an Object of Education." More than 150 years have passed since then, but future educators still become acquainted with this work, carefully studying the teaching methods of their famous predecessor.
In this book, we have collected more than two dozen tales and stories by K.D. Ushinsky. Most of them are about labor: every drop works in the stream, the fire works, the field works, growing bread. And of course, people work - both adults and children. This book will tell the young reader why it is important to be kind and compassionate to everyone around us, will teach him to cherish life, his loved ones, the labor of others, and not to waste time in vain.
