Poets of the Pushkin Era

The poets of the Pushkin era (sometimes referred to as the Pushkin constellation) are those authors who lived and wrote during the creative period of the Russian genius – Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin (1799-1837). The poems of the Pushkin constellation poets... became the foundation of the golden age of Russian literature. “What is especially important – the technique of the poets of the golden age never lags behind inspiration. Their poetry is perfect, even when it comes from lesser poets; and when it involves the great ones – it is, without a doubt, great poetry,” noted a 19th-century critic. The collection includes works by V. Zhukovsky, V.A. Kuchelbecker, I.I. Kozlov, D.V. Davydov, K.N. Batyshev, P.A. Vyazemsky, E.A. Baratynsky, and others. The works of the poets of the Pushkin era are included in the required reading program for literature.
